Virgo New Moon — September 20th, 2017

virgo moon lady

🌑♍️ This new moon is in the sign of the hard working, methodical Virgo. ♍️🌑

❣️ Around this time, you might feel pressured to do everything once and take on more tasks in order to get everything done, but don’t stress yourself out! Things may feel really hectic right now, but take it easy and take everything one step at a time.

❣️ Take this time to focus on yourself, not other people. It’s all about healing and only you can heal yourself. Don’t let others mess with your energy or influence your decisions.

❣️ It’s a good time to spend time by yourself and reflect on your emotions, goals, visions, etc. Unplug from technology and write in your journal. Really reflect on where you are, what you want, and where you want to be.

❣️ This is also the time to deep clean your house, especially with Mabon coming up this week. Now is also ideal to start new health regimens, diets, and workouts.

❣️As it is a new moon, head to your quiet place to recharge, make new plans, and set new intentions for the next moon cycle. Balance your aura and chakras so you can start the next cycle off on the right foot.

Candle Colors & their Meaning — Significance of Fire

Candles are an awesome addition to any prayer, ritual, meditation, or spell because it intensifies the energies and intentions being put out to the universe, thus making them more effective. The flame represents the natural spark within us all, our light from within–our soul.

candle flame

Candles are one of the simplest forms of magic that people use all over the world including at church altars, Wiccan alters, menorahs during Hanukkah, Kwanzaa candles, or during Diwali in India. It’s interesting to learn that both the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah and Hindu holiday of Diwali are both called the “Festival of Lights.” Candles are also used in Zoroastrianism, one of the oldest monotheistic religions, whose central symbol is fire!

Fire is a great element to utilize during your spiritual activities because it is also one of the 4 powerful, classic elements of life: Earth, Air, Water, and Fire. Fire creates and fire destroys. It melts, burns, evaporates, illuminates. The “fire” in the sky gives us life on Earth. The phoenix is reborn and rises from the ashes of its fire. Earth, air, and water are powerful elements, but only fire can change and transform things. One can say without fire, no real transformation can take place.

The raging fire within our soul is passion, passion for love and life. When you light a candle, a physical flame, upon your altar, realize that it symbolizes the raging fire within you, uniting that which is seen and that which is unseen.

Meaning of each candle color:

To use candles during your rituals:

tealight candles

Pick a candle in a color that relates to your purpose for the ritual. Tealight candles are good for short rituals, pillar candles are better for long ceremonies, and taper candles are a great all purpose candle for any duration.

Make sure it has been cleansed in a sea salt bath to get rid of any negative energies that it has acquired during its handling. You can choose to anoint the candles with your choice of herbs, oils, or resins.

Set your intentions while lighting the flame, calling the Divine Creator and asking the Divine to open your heart. Watch the flame grow as you feel the love within you grow as well.

Recite your prayer, mantra, affirmation, spell, etc. while keeping your eyes fixed on the flame the whole time. You should reach a meditative state and you may even see images within the flame itself.

When you feel it is time to end your ceremony and extinguish the fire, thank the Creator and your angels, then snuff the flame with your fingers or let it burn out by itself. Don’t blow it out because it can nullify any work you have just done.

Discard the wax on your property or under a big, healthy tree if you’re trying to attract things or at a crossroads if you’re trying to banish or repel things.

Full Moon in Pisces — August 6th, 2017

full moon lady

Happy full moon friends ❤️ This month we have a full moon in my sign, Pisces! Pisces rules the dream world and is also one of the most emotional signs, so this full moon can really make strong, hidden emotions surface and be felt more intensely. It’s hard to hide these feelings right now, but allow yourself to feel and accept them so you can move on and heal This is always my favorite time of the month, there’s just something about all the energy that is really exciting ✨

Pisces is ruled by Neptune, god of the sea, meaning maximum energy and maximum strength for hurricane Irma..we need to send out positive energy to all those living in its path right now ❤

During these few days, it is also great time to make a spiritual bath to attracting your lover, fortune, energy, and wealth, reading tarot cards, cleansing your aura, and my favorite, making moon water, because the moon has the most energy right now.  ✨

What’s your favorite full moon ritual? ✨

Spiritual Baths — Importance of Water

boy drinking water

Water is the essence of life on Earth and it is used to heal and nourish us in so many different ways. When you think of water, you think of purification, and that’s exactly what you are doing to your mind, body, and spirit when you take a spiritual bath: your are cleansing everything.

Just as you would wash your car when it becomes muddy, you need to cleanse yourself of any negative energy that you may be harboring. Spiritual bathing allows you to balance your aura and create a state of tranquility mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. As a result, spiritual baths are one technique you can use to cleanse your aura.

But why bathing? I hate baths!

I actually hated baths for a long time until I learned about the benefits of this very important bathing ritual. Adding to its intrigue, many ancient civilizations including the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Mayans, etc. also had such rituals. In addition, there are many sacred bodies of water people travel to bathe in for its special healing attributes, like the Ganges river in India and Bangladesh.

Spiritual baths are a great cleansing method because of water’s powerful purifying and healing energy, as demonstrated by more popular methods like baptisms and using holy water. Water is often used because without water, there is no life; it is the most important substance for life on Earth. Water is also one of the four elements: water, earth, air, and fire.

Don’t forget that water isn’t native to our planet, meaning it came from another world, so it makes sense that water in many traditions is considered a portal to another world–the spirit world. This is why water is probably the most popular method used in scrying which is a means of divination. These are all crucial points explaining the importance of water so one could understand why it makes for a good spiritual cleanser instead of just a physical one.

What makes a spiritual bath different than a regular bath?

Intention.

More important than any herb, crystal, stones, or oils, your intention is the absolute most important part not just of spiritual bathing but of any spiritual activity that you take a part in. It has been proven that water reacts to the messages we put out to the universe in Masaru Emoto’s famous water crystal experiment. He spoke positive and negative phrases into water, froze it, and took a picture of the crystals formation. The result was beautiful crystals from the positive phrases and prayers and distorted crystals from negative and violent phrases.

Hence, if we are made up of 55-60% water, more than half of our being, what kind of effect do you think intentions have on our bodies and of course our souls? I think the answer is very clear that thoughts and words make a big impact on ourselves and subsequently, our worlds.

How do you prepare a spiritual bath?

candle lit bath

  1. As always, clear your mind and environment. Burning sage is a nice way to clear spaces. (Also make sure to wash yourself thoroughly because you don’t want to be soaking in a tub of your own filth.)
  2. State your intention, which is your purpose or aim for this bath.
    • What are you trying to get rid of in your life? Or, what are you trying to attract to you? What change do you seek?
    • If you are trying to banish negativity, it is best to take your bath at dusk during a new moon or when it is waning, and if you are trying to attract things, you should take your bath at dawn during a full moon or when it is waxing. These aren’t absolute requirements, but they help a lot in making your intentions stronger and more powerful.
  3. As you watch your tub fill up, imagine you filling it up and charging it with your intention, the water growing stronger with each drop.
  4. Light some candles and incense to add to the atmosphere and add your choice of oils, herbs, crystals, stones, to the water that relate to your purpose. Sea salt is always great to add because it removes negative energies. (Apple cider vinegar, baking soda, sea salt, epsom salt, lavender, rose, basil, cypress, frankincense, juniper, myrrh, sage, palo santo, peppermint, and cedarwood, and pine work great for banishing, cleansing, and removing negativity.
Blackberry, bayberry, bergamot, chamomille, cinnamon, ginger, hyacinth, patchouli, vanilla, jasmine, and rose quartz, clear quartz crystals, kananga water, and florida water are all awesome items that help with healing, cleansing, love, protection, and attracting good fortunes.)
  5. Soak in your bath. Feel yourself soaking in the positive energy while washing away the negativity.
  6. Your bath is finished when you think it is finished. When you feel replenished and refreshed and that it is time to get out, get out. If you feel like you should sit a bit longer, stay in longer. Listen to your intuition.
  7. Get out of your bath and anoint yourself with your favorite lotion or perfume. Dry off with your favorite towel.
  8. Before draining, save a portion of the water and discard under a big, strong tree for attraction or at a crossroads for banishing.

Repeat often as you find necessary and until you feel satisfied with the results!

How to See Auras

In the metaphysical world, you will frequently hear about how one can cleanse their aura, but what exactly is an aura? What is its purpose and of course, how can you see not only your aura, but other’s auras as well?

The aura is the human energy field that emanates from the body. It is a subtle emanation that surrounds the body and can be seen by the naked eye if one focuses. Everything has an aura as everything has energy, not just humans. It can also be a reflection of vibrations of your soul and the state of your chakras. Vibrations have energy and people can sense bad energy from a mile away–what do you think people are referring to when they mention “good/bad vibes” ?  This is one form of sensing an aura.

Many say that the aura is an object’s electromagnetic field. It has been scientifically proven that every object has an electromagnetic field, but what is debatable is whether or not is if it can be seen by the naked eye. A few theories on what exactly the aura is include a bioenergy field, moisture from skin, body heat, bio photons being release from injury, a type of energy communication, or a result of synesthesia.

Interesting enough, I have always felt my own aura my whole life, even as a child, without realizing what it was, but knowing that something was there that was very real. I often described it as feeling some kind of “light” or “force” reaching out from my fingertips and my body in general. I always wondered what it was and found it so strange to feel that my life doesn’t end at my fingertips and how I can physically feel some kind of energy from within me extend past them. So later on when I did learn about auras, I did believe in them because it accurately describes what I have been feeling my whole life. Needless to say, people thought I was a total headcase when I was a kid (and they still do sometimes, lol).

Auras are constantly changing and are thought to vibrate to different stimuli. The color aspect of it is said to vary according to one’s state of mind, body, and spirit. With that being said, your aura isn’t (usually) just one color and there are many layers of color to your aura as well as layers to your aura itself, making up your etheric double. A person’s characteristics and mood can vary the colors and levels of intensity of their aura as well. Your aura can also be affected by external stimuli like your environment or by doing certain spiritual activities like holding crystals or meditating. The aura can radiate out far from the body or it can stay close to the body. People are able to blend their electromagnetic fields together by conducting healing activities together, having sex, or sharing any kind of physical or emotional energies, this allows their auras to merge and will thus be very similar for the time being.

Okay, now that we covered all the important parts and you have a basic understanding of what the aura is, let’s get on to the fun part: how you can see the aura!

  • Start off by relaxing and clearing your mind. Relax and release the tension from your eyes because you don’t want to strain your eyes.
  • If you are viewing your own aura, you can hold up your hand or thumb up to a piece of white paper and stare a little bit to the side of it. If you’re viewing another person’s aura, also have them stand in front of a white wall or background and look to the side of their body.
  • Focus your gaze on one side of your hand/the person. Gently gaze. You may feel your eyes go out of focus and that is perfectly fine and it may even help you see the aura easier.
  • When done correctly, you should see some kind of wavy energy emerge after a few minutes of concentration, similar to heat rising from a hot sidewalk.
  • You may see the energy field first and then it will get more intense to where you might see some colors in the energy field after, or you may not see any colors at all. At this point you should definitely be able to sense the aura in addition to seeing it. It may disappear after a few seconds as auras are constantly changing.
  • Remember, relaxation is key as it is when taking part in any kind of spiritual activities.

Different colors have different meanings and are associated with its respective chakra. If you see a break or hole in your aura, it will usually manifest as a defect mentally, spiritually, or physically, but it is quite common for a person to have uneven areas in their aura. Having gaps in your aura can leave you feeling sick, drained, experience mental confusion, and can leave you expose to attacks on your energy. Knowing about the state of your aura can help you heal and balance it and usually the aura does a pretty good job at repairing itself within a few days. However, gaps that aren’t repaired can lead to long lasting health problems like fatigue, anxiety, depression, etc.

One can clean or repair their aura in many different ways. You can use healing crystals, blessing waters, herbs, and more to pass over and revive the energy field of your body. You can also take a spiritual bath by placing the same items in your bath and soaking in it at dawn or dusk. Lastly, you can smudge or fumigate yourself and your living spaces with incense that has healing and protective qualities in order to banish negative energies.

Don’t be discouraged if you cannot see the aura on your first try. It may come naturally to you or it may take some practice, but keep trying and hopefully you will succeed!

7 Seas Holy Water

The ocean is truly amazing. It is one of the (if not the most) mysterious areas on Earth with 95% of the world’s oceans being unexplored. It’s crazy to think that we have explored outer space more than what’s right here on our own planet!

So why use ocean water as a holy water?

Well, oceans hold a great deal of power, life, and magic within it. Take a look at some of the breathtaking, albeit a bit horrifying, organisms found at the deepest depths and you’ll understand exactly what I mean. In addition, the ocean is obviously a very strong and turbulent force, causing hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones, and tsunamis.

With that being said, there is a lot of strong energy that can be harnessed from sea water and thus can be used in your magical endeavors!

My mother taught me how to make this 7 Seas Holy Water and it is the most special holy water to me. I hold it very dear to my heart because it is my mother that instilled the love of magic and the interest in the “supernatural” since I was a child. I have not been able to find any other mentions of this water any where on the internet and since my mother is from Morocco, I will assume it is derived from Moroccan/Berber magic.

Making the water is very simple and very satisfying to do:

  • Take a container (preferably glass, but any will do) and collect water from 7 different waves, representing the 7 seas, into the container. It’s not going to be precise and that’s okay, but try to get 7 equal parts as best as you can.
  • While collecting this water, set your intentions into the water and think positive thoughts. Recite a favorite prayer and try to harness the energy from the Divine as you do so.

That’s it! Now you can use this water to wash and cleanse your mind, body, and spirit with as well as for protection. You can also put it in your bath to clear your aura and energy field. It’s really good to use when working with Goddesses and spirits of the ocean/water. Use it for the same protective qualities as moon water. What’s great is it can be done at any time of the year and still be extremely potent, unlike moon water which is at its maximum during the full moon.

But be sure to use the water quickly as there are live organisms in ocean water that will end up dying and contaminating the water if you store it for too long. It is probably best to use the same day or the next for maximum energy and freshness. Make some 7 Seas Water and unleash your inner Aphrodite today!

What is Smudging?

In movies, you may see a shaman burning what seems like a bundle of leaves during an important ceremony. Or perhaps your hippie friend told you that you should “totally smudge yourself, man,” after telling him that you’ve been in rut lately, but what exactly is smudging and what purpose does it serve?

Many cultures all over the world have used smudging as an ancient healing method for hundreds of thousands of years. Smudging is the burning of herbs and/or plant resins with the intention of cleansing ones self, others, living spaces, and even objects of negative energy. This negativity can be harbored emotionally, spiritually, environmentally, physically, etc. and builds up with time.

Think of it as a spiritual shower; when done correctly, it purifies yourself, your aura, and your mind, allowing you to have inner peace. It brings balance to your energy field. Smudging frequently is important in order to spiritually “wash” yourself of any negativity so you can move forward with your life in the best, most positive way possible and make your intentions stronger.

In fact, recent scientific studies have proven that herbal smoke can act as a powerful antiseptic, purifying the air of harmful bacteria.

Smudging can also be used to protect yourself from said negative energies. Pray, recite verses, or cast protection spells while burning the herbs and/or resins of your choice to create the protective field around you.

There are many different kinds of herbs each with different purposes you can use to smudge such as tobacco, varieties of sage, sweet grass, cedar, juniper, cypress, pinion, bay leaf, fennel, mugwort, and yerba santa just to name a few.

If you’ve been feeling depressed or down lately, smudging may be what you need in order to clear your field of any stagnant energy and to clear your mind. Feel the smoke wash it away while blessing yourself and everything the smoke comes in contact with.
